Deduct Inventory Usage with a Spoken Command

Say "Hey Maker Studio, I used 4 ounces of coconut oil" to deduct inventory usage hands-free while you're actively making.

What Changed

Tracking ingredient usage while you're actively making soap means constantly stopping to update numbers. Voice inventory commands let you call out what you used and move on.

Before: Deducting ingredient usage meant opening Inventory, finding the ingredient, editing the quantity, and saving — all while your lye solution was cooling or your oils were at temperature.

Now: A microphone button is available in the top-right corner of the Inventory page. Say what you used and the quantity is deducted immediately.

How It Works

  1. Go to Inventory
  2. Tap the microphone icon in the top-right corner
  3. A listening session opens
  4. Say "Hey Maker Studio" followed by what you used
  5. The quantity is matched to your inventory record and deducted

Example Phrases

You say What happens
"Hey Maker Studio, I used 4 ounces of coconut oil" Coconut oil reduced by 4 oz
"Hey Maker Studio, used 2 pounds of sodium hydroxide" Sodium hydroxide reduced by 2 lb
"Hey Maker Studio, I used 50 grams of Waikiki Beach fragrance" Fragrance reduced by 50 g

What If the Ingredient Isn't Found?

If the spoken ingredient doesn't match anything in your inventory, it appears in an amber "Not found" queue. You can tap Add to List to add it to your shopping list as a reminder to restock, or Skip to dismiss it.

When to Use This

This is most useful during a batch session when you want to keep your inventory accurate in real time without breaking your workflow. It's also helpful after a batch when you're doing a quick debrief — you can rattle off everything you used in one session.

For large batches with many ingredients, the Batch Voice Assistant (in the Batch Notes section) is better suited for detailed observations. Use Inventory voice commands for quick, single-ingredient deductions.
