What Changed
Counting and entering every ingredient in your studio one by one is one of the most tedious parts of getting started. Inventory Capture lets you walk through your space and describe what you see — the AI does the rest.
Before: Building your ingredient inventory meant opening a form, typing each item name, selecting a unit, picking a category, and entering a quantity — repeated for every single ingredient. For a well-stocked studio, that could mean 50–100 individual entries.
Now: Go to Inventory Capture, hold the microphone button, describe what you see on your shelf, and release. The AI identifies each ingredient, suggests the correct category and unit, and queues everything for a one-tap review.
How It Works
- Go to Inventory → tap Inventory Capture (or navigate directly)
- Choose your capture mode: Voice, Photo, or Voice + Photo
- Optionally add a context hint (e.g., "fragrance shelf" or "lye storage")
- Hold the microphone button and describe what you see
- Release when done — the AI processes your description
- Review each identified item: confirm the name, quantity, unit, and category
- Tap Add to Inventory to save confirmed items
Example Descriptions
| You describe | What gets identified |
|---|---|
| "I have a 16 oz bottle of coconut oil, about half full, and a full pound of shea butter" | Coconut oil 8 oz, Shea butter 16 oz |
| "Three fragrance oils — Waikiki Beach 4 oz, Lavender Dreams 2 oz, and a new one called Citrus Burst 4 oz" | Three fragrance items queued |
| "Sodium hydroxide, one full 2-pound container and another about a quarter full" | NaOH 2 lb + NaOH 0.5 lb |
Voice + Photo Mode
For even better accuracy, switch to Voice + Photo mode. Take a photo of your shelf first, then describe what you see. The AI combines the visual information with your description to identify items more precisely — especially useful for unlabeled containers or items you can't name exactly.
Session Resume
If you leave the page mid-capture, your session is saved automatically. When you return, an amber banner shows how many items are waiting. Tap Resume to pick up exactly where you left off.
When to Use This
Inventory Capture is designed for initial studio setup and periodic restocking audits. Walk your studio shelf by shelf, describe what you see, and build your full ingredient list in one session instead of hours of manual entry. It's also useful after a supply order arrives — capture the new items quickly before putting them away.
Browser Support
Microphone recording works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. The photo option requires camera access. Both permissions are requested when you first use the feature.
